2024, August, Devotions, Navigating Faith August 31, 2024 Author: jpetrie@jwalkertransport.com A Fresh Start: Embracing New Opportunities with Gratitude Road Map: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.” — Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV) Daily Dispatch: Every new day is a gift from God, filled with fresh opportunities and chances to start anew. Sometimes, it’s easy to get caught up in the past—whether it’s mistakes we’ve made, regrets we hold, or challenges we’ve faced. But God calls us to move forward with faith and gratitude, recognizing that He is always at work, creating new paths and possibilities for us. DVIR:   Think about a time when you faced a new beginning. Maybe it was a new job, a move to a different place, or a change in your personal life. How did you feel? Were you excited, nervous, or uncertain? It’s normal to have mixed emotions when stepping into something new. However, embracing new opportunities with gratitude can transform our outlook and experience.   Gratitude shifts our focus from what we don’t have to what we do have. It allows us to see God’s hand at work, even in unexpected situations. When we approach each day with a thankful heart, we become more open to the blessings and opportunities God has in store for us. Remember, God is making a way for you, even in the wilderness. Trust in His plan and embrace each new day with a spirit of gratitude. Daily Tip: God is always doing a new thing in our lives, creating opportunities for growth and change. By embracing new beginnings with a grateful heart, we can see His hand at work, guiding us through each new path and opening our eyes to the blessings around us. Trust in His plan and let go of the past, knowing that God is making a way for you. Truckers Talk: Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of new beginnings and the fresh opportunities You provide each day. Help me to let go of the past and embrace the present with a heart full of gratitude. Guide me as I step into new situations, and remind me that You are always making a way for me. May I see Your hand at work in every circumstance and trust in Your perfect plan for my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Every time you get behind the wheel, it’s crucial to remember that you are not only responsible for your own safety but also for the safety of others on the road. Here are some essential safety tips to help you stay safe while driving: 1. Inspect Your Truck Daily Before hitting the road, always conduct a thorough inspection of your truck. Check your tires, brakes, lights, mirrors, and fluid levels to ensure everything is in good working order. Look for any signs of wear and tear or damage that could lead to problems down the road. A daily inspection helps prevent accidents and breakdowns, keeping you and everyone around you safe. 2. Keep a Safe Distance Before hitting the road, always conduct a thorough inspection of your truck. Check your tires, brakes, lights, mirrors, and fluid levels to ensure everything is in good working order. Look for any signs of wear and tear or damage that could lead to problems down the road. A daily inspection helps prevent accidents and breakdowns, keeping you and everyone around you safe. 3. Stay Focused – Avoid Distractions Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of accidents. While on the road, stay focused on driving and avoid distractions such as using your phone, eating, or adjusting the radio. If you need to make a call or check directions, pull over to a safe location first. Staying focused ensures you can react quickly to any hazards that may arise. 4. Follow Speed Limits Speed limits are set for a reason – they’re designed to keep you and others safe. Always adhere to the posted speed limits and adjust your speed according to road conditions, weather, and traffic. Remember, driving at a safe speed gives you more time to react and helps prevent accidents. 5. Always Wear Your Seat Belt Wearing your seat belt is one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect yourself in the event of an accident. Make it a habit to buckle up every time you get in the truck. Your seat belt is your first line of defense against injury, so never underestimate its importance. 6. Take Regular Rest Breaks Driving for long hours can lead to fatigue, which significantly increases the risk of accidents. Make sure to take regular rest breaks to stay alert and refreshed. Listen to your body – if you feel tired, pull over and take a break. Resting allows you to stay sharp and focused, ensuring you’re always ready to handle the challenges of the road. 7. Issue 05: Finding Peace in the Process: Trusting God’s Timing

2024, August, Devotions, Navigating Faith September 3, 2024 Author: jpetrie@jwalkertransport.com Finding Peace in the Process: Trusting God’s Timing Road Map: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” — Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV) Daily Dispatch: In our fast-paced world, we often want instant results. As truckers, we understand that every journey takes time, and each mile must be traveled with patience and focus. Similarly, God’s plan for our lives unfolds according to His perfect timing, not ours. Trusting in His process brings peace, even when we don’t see the destination clearly. DVIR:   Think about a time when you wanted something to happen quickly but had to wait instead. How did you feel during that period of waiting? Were you anxious, frustrated, or even doubtful? Waiting can often test our patience and faith, making us feel like God is distant or not listening. However, it’s in these moments of waiting that we are invited to trust God more deeply and lean into His presence.   Consider how God may have been working behind the scenes, preparing you for what was to come. Often, what we perceive as delays are actually God’s way of protecting us or aligning circumstances for our greater good. Reflect on how those seasons of waiting taught you valuable lessons, strengthened your character, and deepened your reliance on God. Trusting God’s timing isn’t about passively sitting back; it’s about actively choosing to believe that He knows what’s best, even when we can’t see the full picture. Waiting becomes a season of growth when we allow God to use it to shape us and draw us closer to Him. Daily Tip: Embrace the Wait: Trusting God’s timing means finding peace in the waiting. Remember that delays aren’t denials; they are opportunities for growth and preparation. Trust that God is working behind the scenes, aligning everything for your good and His glory. Truckers Talk: Lord, help me to trust in Your perfect timing. Teach me to find peace in the process and to lean not on my own understanding but on Your guidance. Remind me that You see the bigger picture and that Your plans are for my good. Give me patience and a heart that rests in Your promises. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Similarly, the journey of faith is filled with challenges that test our resolve. It’s easy to become discouraged when we don’t see immediate results or when obstacles seem to block our way. But just as a trucker trusts the route ahead, we must trust God’s plan for our lives. DVIR: Reflect on the moments when your faith was tested. Were there times when you felt like giving up? What helped you to stay steadfast in your beliefs? Remember, every challenge is an opportunity to strengthen your faith. God doesn’t promise an easy road, but He does promise to be with us every step of the way. Our journey with God is a continuous process of growth, often filled with challenges and changes. But through every season, God’s hand is at work, shaping and refining us. DVIR: Consider how far you’ve come in your spiritual journey. Reflect on the moments where God’s presence was evident in your life — those times when you felt His guidance, comfort, or even correction. Just like a driver who checks their vehicle before a long haul, take a moment to evaluate your growth. What lessons have you learned? How have your experiences shaped you into who you are today?
